SHORT WALKS IN THE STOW ON THE WOLD AREA 

If you only have limited time available but don't want to miss the beautiful Stow on the Wold area.....find a few ideas below!

The Maugersbury Walk - approx. 1 - 1,2 miles

From the centre of Stow on the Wold go down Digbeth Street  and Park Street direction car park (signposted). Pass the small toilet building on the right (there is a sign "Private - No Parking"). Follow the alley way down towards Maugersbury. Explore the quite hamlet of Maugersbury and see the lovely Cotswold buildings. From the centre in Maugersbury turn left, stay on the small country road which leads back to Stow on the Wold.

Comments: Easy walking, In wet weather conditions there might be a few muddy spots. Children friendly. Fine for prams with bigger wheels. Recommendation: Park your car at the coach & car park.

Visit the ancient Stow Well - approx. 1 mile

Leave the centre of Stow on the Wold direction the A429 but turn right into Parson's Corner street (opposite the Police Station). Follow Parson's Corner street until you reach the Doctors surgey. Turn left into Well Lane. Stay on Well Lane and after a few meters you join green meadows. You will find the Stow Well on your left after about 1/4 mile. The well is still active and from here water was brought up the Stow centre until the last century! Enjoy the lovely views over green fields and see Stow on the Wold from a very different direction.

Comments: Easy walking, very children friendly, no problem with prams. Fine in any weather condition.

The Lower Swell Tour - approx. 2,8 miles

Leave Stow on the Wold  town centre towards the A429. Pass the stone "The Fountain" (an old well) and cross the road at the traffic lights, follow the B4077 on the parallel footpath. After about 3/4  mile turn left into a small footpath, cross the small river Dikler. Turn left and join the Donnington and Heart of England way. Pass Bowl Farm until you reach the B4068 in Lower Swell. Thursty? Walk a few meters along the road to the Golden Ball Inn. Retrun to Stow on the Wold on the parallel foot path along the B4068.

Comments: Easy walking, very children friendly, no problem with prams. Fine in all weather conditions.

Down to Broadwell - approx. 2,2 miles

Park your car on the right side in Tesco's car park (free all day). Walk towards the Stow on the Wold town centre and turn left into Parson's Corner street (opposite the Police Station). Follow the path as described above to the Stow Well. Pass the Stow Well and follow the path until you join the small road from Stow on the Wold to Broadwell. You are only a few meters away from very picturesque Broadwell. The delightful village green offers a enormous space to play with children and the little stream and ford certainly attracts those who like water!
Enjoy tasty English pub food and real ales at The Fox Inn (very dog friendly!). Return to Stow on the Wold either via the same route or just stay on the road leading back to Stow on the Wold.

Comments: Easy walking, children and dog friendly. The section from the Stow Well to the road to Broadwell might be a bit muddy in bad weather. Prams: With bigg wheels only.
